Free will is the choice of two paths, the path of growth/enlightenment or the path of suffering/ignorance. Growth will allow a person to step out the way of a moving car and suffering in front of the head lights.

I believe that a person needs to be able to see things from different perspectives in order to grow. Visual perception is not always what you get, but a deeper inspection beyond can cause what was once bad to be seen as good, if taken as a lesson.
