My goal in studying Kabbalah is to become more aware of the Creator’s presence in my life and more conscious of my interaction with Him. I would like a close relationship with Him. I want to know what He intends in creating us so I can do my part to fulfill His purpose.
For me, freedom is the ability to be myself – the ability to be authentic.
Reforming light can help me to better understand what the Creator had planned when creating me. This leads to a better understanding of myself and my place in the larger creation. It leads to authenticity.
The only way I can imagine this is to think of all of reality as one conscious organism comprised of semi-conscious sub-organisms. Even in this imagining, I struggle to know the “action of the Creator”. How is it that we have free will yet “There is None Else Besides Him”? Perhaps human logic cannot grasp this paradox. This must be why we have to “attain” the next level rather than learn it.
I think the best experience was attending the Q&A sessions on Zoom. I was able to attend two of these and felt a sense of community with the other students. I also felt like I was able to relate to the instructors better in this interactive format.
As far as expectations for this course, I am hoping to continue to developing a better understanding of Kabbalah and, as much as possible, our Creator.
1. What most inspired me in this semester? – The availability and dedication of the instructors in responding to students questions. I can tell that they really care about the student’s development.
2. What have I learned about myself in the process? – I have realized that as I have gotten older, I have actually become less open-minded. I have to keep reminding myself that my perception and experience are limited.
3. What do I wish for my fellow students in their spiritual development? – That they develop in whichever way which is most beneficial for themselves and the Creator.
